Payment reminders

  1. Go to Settings, then Payments.
  2. Under Payment reminders, turn on Automatically remind clients about unpaid invoices. An Admin can change the switch. The note says new invoices you send will follow up 3 days before the due date, on the due date, and 7 and 14 days after.
  3. Send an invoice. That invoice copies the switch. On the invoice, after it is no longer a draft, a Payment reminders section lists 3 days before, Due date, 7 days overdue, and 14 days overdue. An Admin can turn any of those off for that invoice.
  4. Track and Invoice emails the client on those days while the invoice is Sent or Partially paid, and that stage is still on. Reminders stop being sent once the invoice is Paid or Void.

You can also send one yourself. On a Sent, Overdue, or Partially paid invoice, an Admin can click Send reminder. You can send at most one manual reminder for that invoice every 24 hours.

What your client sees

They get a short email from your company. The subjects are along the lines of a reminder that the invoice is due in 3 days, due today, past due, or a follow-up that it is past due. The message names the invoice, the amount, and the due date. It can include a pay link. It does not include your internal notes.

Common questions

Yes. Open the invoice and use the Payment reminders checkboxes. Paid and Void invoices only show stages that already went out, and those boxes are read-only.

No. Scheduled reminders are for Sent and Partially paid invoices. A Paid invoice does not get another one.

An Admin. Other people see the Payment reminders card, and a note that payment settings can only be changed by an admin.
