Edit or remove a client

  1. Open the client.
  2. Click Actions, then Edit. The window is titled Edit Client. Change any of the same fields you used when you added them, then click Save Changes.
  3. To hide a client you are no longer billing, click Actions, then Archive. Their invoices, time, and items stay where they are. The client drops off the usual Clients list.
  4. To see archived clients, open Clients and set the filter to Archived Only. Open the client and click Actions, then Restore, to bring them back.
  5. Delete is in Actions for an Admin only. It is blocked when the client has projects, tasks, time entries, items, or invoices. The message tells you to consider archiving instead. If nothing is attached, delete hides the client from normal lists.

What your client sees

On invoices, Bill To uses the client's current name, address, phone, and email. If you edit the client, that change shows on invoices the next time you open or download them, including invoices you already sent. A quote you already sent keeps the Bill To from the copy that was sent. Archiving does not email your client and does not void their invoices.

Common questions

They stay. Time entries and items stay too. The client is marked **Archived** and hidden from the active list until you click **Restore**.

The client still has projects, tasks, time, items, or invoices. Use **Archive** instead. Track and Invoice keeps that history.

**Settings**, then **Data**, then **Recently Deleted**. Only an **Admin** sees it. Choose **Clients** in the **Show** filter if you want that list only, then click **Restore**. After 30 days the row leaves this list. The record is not erased from your data just because it left the list. Contact us if you need help with an older deletion.
