Add a project
A project is one job or engagement for a client. Time, items, and invoice lines can all point at that project, so you can see the work in one place.
- Add the client first if they are not in Track and Invoice yet. See Add a client.
- Go to Projects and click New Project.
- Choose Client.
- Enter Project Name. Description is optional.
- Choose Rate Model. Pick Hourly Rate or Fixed Price, then enter the amount that field asks for.
- Click Create Project.
When you log time, you pick the client, this project, and a task. When you add an item, you can attach this project. When you invoice the client, you can pull in that unbilled time and those items.
What your client sees
Your client does not get a project page. When you bill work from the project, the invoice line they see can include the project or task name.
Common questions
Yes. Each project belongs to one client. Open **New Project** again and pick the same client.
No. The invoice is tied to the client. A project helps you group the time and items that belong to one job.
**Hourly Rate** is the project's hourly amount, used for time when the task does not have its own rate. **Fixed Price** stores a single price for the project.
