Card and bank fees and who pays them

  1. Go to Settings, then Payments.
  2. Under Processing fees, read the two rows.
  3. Card payments shows a card fee of 3.5% with no cap. The exact fee for your account is shown under Settings, then Payments, in Processing fees.
  4. Bank transfer shows 1%, with a maximum of $10.
  5. For each row, an Admin picks who pays. The buttons are your company name plus pays fee, or We pay fee if the company has no name yet, and Client pays fee.
  6. The choice saves on its own. You will see Saved.

Until an Admin makes this choice, a banner says Action required: Select how processing fees will be handled before clients can pay invoices online. A Pay Now link cannot be included in sent invoices until this is configured.

What your client sees

On the pay page, Card and Bank transfer are the two choices. If the client pays that fee, the button shows Total due and says the total includes the card fee or the bank fee. If your company pays the fee, the client sees Credit or debit card or ACH / bank debit, and the total is the invoice amount.

Common questions

Track and Invoice fills them from the fee settings used for payments. The card fee is 3.5% with no cap. The exact fee for your account is under Settings, then Payments, in Processing fees. Bank transfer is 1%, capped at $10.

No. A User can read Current fee preferences for online payments. The buttons are for an Admin.

Only when Client pays fee is selected for that method. The other button, your company name and pays fee, means the fee is not added to what they pay on that button.
